The presence of famous musicians at royal events has become a customary practice, as evidenced by the likes of Queen, Rod Stewart, and Diana Ross performing at the Platinum Jubilee concert. The King's coronation concert is expected to feature "global music icons and contemporary stars," as stated by Buckingham Palace.
This is everything we currently know about the coronation concert. The concert, which will start at 8 pm on Sunday, 7 May, is the highlight of the second day of coronation celebrations. It will be the first time a concert has been held on the East Lawn of Windsor Castle. The line-up includes Take That, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, Paloma Faith, Olly Murs, Steve Winwood, Nicole Scherzinger, and Andrea Bocelli. Stella McCartney will give a spoken word performance on the theme of conservation, reflecting her and the King's shared passion for environmental sustainability. The event will also feature performances by Welsh bass-baritone Sir Bryn Terfel, singer-songwriter Freya Ridings, and classical-soul composer Alexis Ffrench. Invitations were reportedly declined by Ed Sheeran, Adele, Sir Elton John, Harry Styles, and the Spice Girls.
How does the ticketing process work, and who will attend the event?
The public ticket ballot has now closed, and attendees are advised not to arrive in Windsor without a valid ticket.
The 10,000 tickets were allocated based on the UK population's geographical distribution, while volunteers associated with the King and Queen Consort's charitable organizations will also be invited to join the audience.
The remaining tickets will be distributed to charities supporting youth, military personnel, the environment, local communities, and the wider Commonwealth.
For those who did not enter the ballot, the event will be broadcast live on BBC One, BBC iPlayer, BBC Radio 2, and BBC Sounds.
