Red River, New Mexico Shooting: 3 Dead, 5 Injured
On May 27, 2023, a shooting occurred at the Red River Memorial Day Motorcycle Rally in Red River, New Mexico. Three people were killed, and five others were injured. The shooting was reportedly between two outlaw motorcycle gangs, the Bandidos and the Water Dogs.
The shooting began around 5 p.m. on Main Street in Red River. Witnesses reported hearing gunfire and seeing people running and screaming. Police arrived on the scene and found two people dead and several others injured. The injured were taken to local hospitals, where one later died.
All eight individuals involved in the shooting were identified as members of outlaw motorcycle gangs. The three deceased individuals have been identified as Anthony Silva, 26, of Los Lunas, NM; Randy Sanchez, 46, of Albuquerque, NM; and Damian Breaux, 46, of Socorro, NM. Jacob David Castillo, 30, of Rio Rancho, NM, was charged with an Open Count of Murder. He was injured during the incident and is currently hospitalized. He will be booked into the Taos County Detention Center upon his release.
The shooting is still under investigation, but police believe it was the result of a dispute between the two motorcycle gangs. The Bandidos and the Water Dogs are known for their violent tendencies and have been involved in numerous shootings and other crimes.

On January 24, 2024, Jacob David Castillo pleaded guilty to an open count of murder in connection with the Red River shooting. Castillo was sentenced to 40 years in prison.
